The following article will discuss, with an ethnographic approach, child care everyday practices in popular neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. In order to do this, we focus on a critical analysis of the place of mutual aid relationships and proximity. We mainly argue the centrality and naturalization of reciprocal relations in popular sectors that many studies take for granted and the lack of attention given to the inequality and power relations that they contain.
