The aim of this article is to analyze the principles of the Social and Solidary Economy theory in Latin America, with the purpose of detecting the principal discussions in it. At the same time, I will identify the connections between the main premises of Social Economy and the recommendations produced by the World Bank oriented to countries in development. In that way, I find "elective affinities" between both discursive complexes by the specific analysis of the regenerative vision of social politics, that is present at the phase of design and implementation of Social and Solidary Economy promotion politics in government departments of Argentine. The article has the objective of emphasizing the tensions inside the school of thought of Social Economy and the resulting political contradictions that appear.
