This paper reflects, from an ethnographic perspective, over processes of public space constitution in the city of Buenos Aires, and how they are linked with certain buildings' landmark status declaration. By focusing on developments in the Puerto Madero, San Telmo and Floresta neighborhoods, it intends to answer the following questions: ¿who defines what is urban heritage? ¿who promotes preservationists actions? ¿how does the landmarking process affect the production of symbolic boundaries in the urban public space?.
