The aim of this paper is to understand the articulation between independent music production and the reproduction processes of contemporary capitalism in Argentina. With this objective we analyze the representations of its actors from the contextualist perspective of cultural studies and through a qualitative methodological approach. We argue that the notions of freedom, authenticity and originality forms a triad which together with the disc tradition and under a contrary appearance allows to articulate the independent music phenomenon with the current hegemonic order.
