Abstract

The article performs a critical comparison between two clearly opposite epistemological approaches which, being based on antagonistic worldviews, collide: on one hand, the "hegemonic perspective", which finds its fullest form in the Karl Popper’s works, and on the other hand, the "alternative perspective", which is expressed in the work of Boaventura de Souza Santos. The text argues that the field in which the cognitive foundations are settled is more political than epistemological.
