Abstract

The National Weather Service (NWS) is one of the most important scientific and technical institutions of Argentina, its transference from the military wing to the civilian sphere has triggered major transformations within the so-called institutional new paradigm. This article aims at describing and analysing the multiple dimensions that this change involved - institutional, socio-cultural, political - crystallized in the opening of the NWS to society, with the goal of (re) positioning itself as a meteorological authority within the social and institutional framework.
